Snow Day

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Tuesday: 333 presentation My first snow day.

I woke up around 9-ish because Steffi opened the apartment door to come in. She had just wasted 2 hours of her life going to school and finding out that it was closed. Thanks for heads up, Stef!

Instead of doing more Italia research, my Italian assignment or any catching up to readings, I played DDR like I promised myself. I also ironed, folded and arranged our bookshelf. Looking for other ways to procrastinate, I made myself a template for my long overdue portfolio website here. It’s pretty simple. I’ll probably hate it a month later.

I’ll be crossing my fingers for more snow days to come.

DDR Bootcamp

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

I’m going to do an hour of DDR everyday. No fatties like me are allowed in Italy so I gotta do something about it.

What about GREEN?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

The SFU Italia website is an archive of all the past research, photos and gathered in-field information from all the trips combined. It’s segregated by year and every year has their own special color theme. Last year was a nice yellowish-orangey brown, a good neutral with spunk. So what’s this year’s color gonna be? A couple of people from class was thinking maroon-y red was the way to go. It would remind everyone of the weather beaten fresco walls in Italy. I tend to think of meat sauce marinara.

So I say, lets go with green. A nice, cream of pesto green. Mmmm…

Italy: dress required

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I was just wasting my time checking out the clothes on The Satorialist and this guy takes fabulous photos of fabulous people wearing the most fabulous ensembles. Anyway, he travels to Milan a lot for fashion shows and I was thinking… I need dresses.

But who cares what I look like? I’m just a student/tourist and we all dress alike: wrinkled tank top + shorts + sneakers. No one will care, except ME. I CARE. I should just pack all dresses. Good idea? Yes?

I wasn’t bored at all!

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Last Friday’s Italia class was SO MUCH FUN. I’d usually fall asleep in class after a while (especially after an avoidable all-nighter) but I LOVE learning about Italian history. Really! I’m not kidding! All 5 hours of it! I could just feel all the excitement bubbling inside me when I think of all the pics I’m going to take of the Bocca della Verita [it’s a sewage cover]. Rus said it was disgusting and germ-y. I’m so sticking my hand in that.

The dates are out. The adventure begins on May 27 and classes end on July 13. I’m going to stay for an extra 4 weeks no matter what. I want to get lost. Yay! Can’t wait!

Anyway, me and Derek made a KILLER presentation on the Theater of Marcellus. We were supposed to do a podcast but Derek decided to sleep. Boo. The first 5 presentations before us took at least 20 minutes each and when it was our turn, we did it in 5 short minutes. Bad: I worked so hard to make it look pretty. Good: No one saw the typos, and there were a lot.  Then I went home to sleep.

Weeklong research

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Derek and I are doing our very first presentation on the Teatro di Marcello and its relation to the Colosseum. All we have to do is get info and images, slap them onto some slides and NOT repeat what Ben did last year too much. Easy peezey, right? Well, it’s already Thursday and we started roughly (at least I did) on Monday plus 2 late nights on Tuesday and Wednesday. No doubt that we’re going to be doing that again today.

I also blame Yoshi for the stress. Curse you, Yoshi! Him and Simon were bragging about how they were done with the research on Sunday when they had a date at the VPL which made us (mostly Derek) panic…probably just jealous on my part.  I’m still thinking if I should post the slides up here or just a link. Hmmm.

Stop procrastinating, Derek!

Procrastination Station

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

WHY did I spend all my time making my dot blog when I could have been researching on the Theater of Marcellus or making slides for the 333 presentation in 2 hours.

Anyway, it looks good. Not too girly but still pink. First post!

Hello World!

About Me

I'm currently an Interaction Design undergrad at SFU living in Vancouver. This blog is about my 2008 Italia Field School trip; pre, during and post.

Why blog? For fun, for boring spans of time, and to show my mom in Manila where her money's going.

I like cooking pasta, playing DDR and boys. I don't like early morning classes, snow and celery.
